If you are looking for a great quality bike that will not completely smash your budget, then look at the Cube Aim SL Hardtail. This is the 2019 version of the bike and currently Tweek cycles are offering at £449.00 (31st October 2019)
Cube are one of my favorite bike manufacturers in this price bracket and they always seem to put a good package together.
The Cube name is known well within the cycle community and the Kids recognise it as not an everyday brand. I personally like the version above with the walled tyres. This has a retro cool look. If you or the kids want something different to the norm then cube won’t let you down. I have said before that my son has a Cube and he loves it.
have a read through the specification and you will see that this bike comes with some relatively High End components. Rather than scrimp Cube have gone with the Deore 9 speed rear derailleurs which is a well-established MTB Gear set. This offers a range of 27 gears and also allows the opportunity for upgrades. The Breaking system is a higher quality Hydraulic system. You would not normal find the Shimano MT200 on a bike of this level. The wheels come with Shimano Centre lock hubs. This is the more modern technology that replaces the six bolt system and this will provide longevity. The fork is the Suntour XCM 100mm with remote lockout. OK this is not the best fork out there but it is a reasonable fork for a bike of this level.
The frame is an area where Cube have a great reputation and this bike has the Aluminium Lite frame with internal cable routing. These frames are known for their strength and stiffness.
The Aim SL also features Cube’s acclaimed Agile Ride Geometry. Firstly, this sees increased fork offsets providing good toe clearance to the front wheel. Secondly, shortened chain stays and a specially mounted front derailleur provide more tyre clearance without compromising the seat angle. Lastly, Cube kept the BB height the same as on their 26 inch bikes. All this adds up to a natural riding position for all rider sizes.
The Aim SL’s frame is constructed using Cube’s Advanced Mechanical Forming process, this involves optimising the tubes without the need for material-wearing welding work. The result is a lighter and stiffer aluminium frame with tubes that also have an aesthetically pleasing, organic appearance. Internal cable routing also adds to the clean, sleek appearance and increases the durability of the cables by protecting them from dirt and the elements. Cube’s Frame Save System means the mounting thread is in the hanger and not in the frame, so should damage occur the derailleur hanger is easily replaceable.

This bike has a great spec list for its price point and it is definitely a bargain at £449.00. There are cheaper bikes out there but you do get what you pay for. The only part of this bike that is not great is the Fork but, even this is a better fork than you normally get at this price.
