Ribble CGR AL-e

Ribble are hands down my favorite bike Manufacturer which is strange because they Only make two MTB framsets and I am a Mountain Biker at Heart. I don’t actually ride road but, I do appreciate a manufacturer that puts their heart and soul into building great bikes and This is the Ribble CGR AL-e. CGR mean Cross, Gravel, Road so, this is basically a bike for all surfaces. Of course on the end of the name you will notice a small letter “e” and in the Ribble world this means Electric.

Electric CGR I hear you scream

But hang on. Look at the pretty bike. It can’t be an e bike, surely the description must be wrong. It is true that when you look at the CGR AL – e, you would be forgiven for believing it is just another sleek and sexy looking road bike.

This bike and this entire range of bikes are blessed with the hub motor that has been developed by Ribble.

This means that I would class this as a stealth e bike for the road.

It literally looks just like a good quality road bike with sleek lines ready for you to power down the roads at high speed. Of course with the electrical assistance you can power up the hills as well.

Carefully designed tube profiles and geometry provide stability, controlled handling and comfort over multiple terrains. The sleek and lightweight battery is completely hidden within the frames down tube, giving the appearance of a traditional bicycle frame.

The lightweight hub driven motor system provides smooth, reliable power assistance levels and zero drag in off mode. Ensuring your ride feels as natural as a traditional high-end bike.

A choice of 700c or 650b wheel sets with a monster tyre clearance of 2”. Mudguards and rack mounts complete the versatility ensuring that this bike is as at home on the road as it is on the most adventurous of trails. No ride will ever be too much again. Re-define your limits and make it possible…

  1. This is crazy! I had no idea that they made bikes like this that can give you electric assistance. That would have been so helpful when I was younger and had to travel up one particularly huge hill when going back to my house! One thing I particularly like is that even though it has a motor, it is so well hidden that I would never have known if you hadn’t told me. That speaks to this bike’s great design! Thanks for writing this!

    • The technology is getting quite amazing. There are even professional e bike racing teams now. This certainly would have got you up that hill in record time.

  2. Being full time RVers we’re always looking for ways to stay healthy. Biking is one of the things we have been thinking of getting into.

Looking through your website was easy and I found the articles helpful and informative. I really enjoyed learning about the E-bikes in particular the E-Mountain Bikes. Looking over the Vitus E-Escarpe I like how you break down each component during your review of the product.

Your site is full of information and well covers all types of bikes that I could think of. Well done.

    • Thank you very Much. I try to update the site as much as possible because, Cycling is a passion of mine. E-Mountain bikes are turning in to a massive market. Even the serious riders are getting on them so that they can elongate their day out.
